Perfect the Setting

Last week, we perfected the setting. In this process we learned a great deal of new technique about lighting, textures and bake.

Next week, we prepare to combine the 3D animation with stop-motion movie, and test the effect of it. Hope everything will be ok!

This afternoon, we took almost two hundreds pics for our stop-motion movie. According to our storyboarding, we have completed two parts: START and TRANSFORM. And this time, Lisa even tried to play the guest actor in our film!

Modelling Janny and Room

We used blender to create Janny, who lives in a house built with recycled stuff.

The model of Janny followed the scale of the character that we made before. The furniture of Janny's house looks somehow abnormal to the reality world and this is the effect that we wanted it to be. One of the funny parts in the room is the computer we designed for Janny. We supposed that it was made of recycled materials by Janny and it looked differently to the regular computer.

In the next step, we would add armtures and different textures to complete the modelling work.

The Birth of Danny

This process costs us two days.

Our tools are as follows:

pencil, double tapes, scissors, pincer pliers, ruler and paperboard.

The model was built on paper with the structured iron wires as the armture. It was designed to have different movements of the character when we recorde the stop-motion animation in the next stages.

It is a funny experience to create our character by hand and have it stand in front of us with different gestures, despite the demanding work.

Finally, when Danny can stand straightly in front of us, we were so happy! You know, this handsome boy will accompany us from today to the end of our project!

Our original idea was like this，we named our characters Danny and Janny. Danny is a boy made by paper boxes, we plan to do his animation part using stop-motion movie. By contrast, Janny is a girl made by 3d modeling and 3d animation.

With the experience of digital media studio project (3d fairly tale), both of us accumulated basic skills in making 3D animation and video editing. When we were impressed by some lovely stop motion movie, we started to thinking if we could use both of them and create some fantastic effects.
